Sexological Bodywork Sessions

What Is Sexological Bodywork?

Sexological bodyworkers are somatic (relating to the body) sex educators. I use a client-centered approach, focused on empowering, educating, and supporting individuals and couples to become more knowledgable, attuned to, and aware of their bodies, sex and sexuality or work through sexual issues or concerns. I celebrate Full Spectrum Sexuality - where your entire person is invited to be present - integrating mind, body, spirit, and sex.

Sexological bodywork sessions are hands-on, with one-way touch from the practitioner to the client, and all touch is only given at the client’s request. By using touch, we can access embodied feeling-states that are simply inaccessible by talk therapy alone.

By building embodied awareness, and tapping into their body’s wisdom, one can come into greater alignment with their deepest desire and open up to new levels of pleasure. Our body’s deepest desires reflect the yearnings of our soul.

Our sexuality is at the very core of our being. By healing our wounds and embracing erotic wholeness, we can heal one of the most intimate parts of us. Often our system has developed unconscious patterns of behavior and habitual reactions that are rooted in past experiences of fear, pain, or overwhelm. By consciously working with our autonomic nervous system, we can develop new neural pathways to support safety, relaxation, and pleasure.

I believe that pleasure is our birthright. We all have the right to feel safe and loved, and to experience profound states of pleasure. Pleasure is about connection: with others, ourselves, or a sense of something greater than us. It is a gateway in our bodies to incredible transformation. Befriending our bodies and our pleasure leads to improved well-being and greater fullness in our lives.

How I Work

I work in a coaching modality - I’m here to support you and offer you tools to support your growth and education. I am not here to diagnose or to fix you. I orient toward what’s already working, and what’s possible. It’s easy to get fixated on what’s wrong; I seek to root in what’s already working well, as an entry-point to holistic healing, expansion, and growth. I work to eradicate shame, embracing joy, love, and connection.

I follow a code of ethics of Sexological Bodywork, and I am member of ASIS - the Association of Somatic and Integrative Sexologists.

What Happens In a Session?

All sessions begin with a conversation to understand your intention for the work and that particular session. We will then discuss various somatic exercises that could help you to deepen your learning. Based on which exercise(s) resonate with you, we will spend most of the session in embodied practice. Some exercises will involve touch, many will involve explorations of breath, sound, and movement. If an exercise involves touch, it will always be at the request of the client.

Most exercises are focused on building interoception - your ability to sense, understand, and communicate what you’re experiencing in your body. Developing interoception helps you to identify how you’re feeling, what your body wants and needs, what its boundaries and limits are, and enables you to engage in a deeper dialogue with your felt sense of the world.
